Neeru Kathpal
Neeru Kathpal began her journey as a student of Iyengar Yoga in 1999, and has been an ardent practitioner for over 21 years. She is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, and has been teaching since 2010. Neeru was blessed to receive her teacher-training certificate from the legendary Yogacharya Shri B.K.S. Iyengar (our Guru ji). She continues to study the subject of yoga extensively at RIMYI, i.e., the headquarter of Iyengar Yoga institute in Pune. She has had great fortune to have studied under Yogacharya Shri B.K.S. Iyengar and his children, who have also been renowned Yoga teachers, namely Geeta Iyengar, Prashant Iyengar, Sunita Iyengar and Abhijata. She also studies regularly with other senior Iyengar Yoga teachers, namely Jawahar ji, Birjoo ji and Raya Uma Datta.
Neeru follows the traditional and disciplined Iyengar approach to yoga with a lot of energy and humour. As it is said that “Charity begins at home”; family and extended global circle of Neeru have associated themselves with the wonderful Vidya which Guruji has bestowed upon us. She is dedicated to increase the reach of Iyengar Yoga to one and all so that everyone can reap benefits of the knowledge and labour of Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar. The centre, Yoganusasanam, is well equipped for learning of yoga, where focus is given to individual needs of all her students. She periodically organizes workshops conducted by senior Iyengar yoga teachers for her students. In July 2019, she took her students to Bellur, (near Bengaluru) which is Guruji’s birthplace, to attend a seven days’ workshop conducted by Birjoo ji.
